With the recent earthquakes in Japan and the issues with radiation, nuclear power as a whole has been brought into question. Everyone seems to want this efficient method to generate their power but they don't want it in their backyard. As another indicator of the unpopularity of this method of generating energy, The Obama administration in recent years has attempted to even shut down the only spent uranium fuel rod repository that I know of. All of this has led me to wonder "What's exactly going on with nuclear power nowadays?" and more specifically, "What are we doing with all of our radioactive waste?"
I will be doing my project on chemicals in the environment. I will be researching why companies dump chemicals in a particular area and what are alternative solutions to this problem
I will be researching the growing trend of low fertility rates in Japan. What has caused this to happen and what can be done to ensure a sustainable future for the Japanese population.
My research project is focusing on how the health care industry is contributing to the 'green age'. How is it making health care facilities more environmentally friendly.
My research project attends to the role of social media in contributing to sustainability. For example, I will disucss how social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook have the potential to enhance corporate transparency in regards to unethical business practices. Additionally, I will discuss social media's role in reducing pollution and natural resource depletion.
My research is focusing on the new health care reform in 2010 and how it promotes access to the health care system while still being conscientious of quality and costs.
I am researching sustainablity within the economy and have found that sustaibablilty has a great deal to do with the economy. I would like to know if anyone, even with the most amount of research, can actually acuritally predict the direction the economy is headed in and what we as a country can do to help guide it in a positive direction.
